For those of you in the Netherlands, some Suncatcher Eyes are now available on a local website. I am thrilled that Koekeridoo will be carrying Suncatcher Eyes.
If you haven't checked out Koekeridoo, please do. It's a fun site to visit even if you don't speak Dutch (you can use Google translate), and it's even better if you do speak Dutch :) Tess at Koekeridoo offers everything you could possibly want for amigurumi making, and she makes the most adorable amigurumi giraffe and cows!
How cute is this? Ollie pulls on his leash a lot, so I thought a harness was the way to go. This photo is from Annie's Sweatshop, where I bought it. As soon as I get it, Ollie will be modeling :)
These dog harnesses are available at
Annie's Sweatshop on Etsy. They look so much more comfortable for the dog than those thin ones.
When I find a company with great customer service, I love spreading the word about them. I just found this company recently when I was looking online for inkjet printer cartridges. I'm waiting for my back to heal, and I have to cut back on shopping trips as much as I can.
OC Inkjet is the website I found. They have very good prices, and they even have refurbished cartridges.
Sidebar: Hold that thought.. I was in the middle of writing this post, and I went to visit OC Inkjet to see if I had missed anything I should blog about. There was, and it pertains to exactly this post. For every person you refer to OC Inkjet, you get 5% off every purchase you make, and they add up. Plus, OC Inkjet sends out email coupons.
So... if you visit OC Inkjet and become a customer, please use my Referral ID of 125585.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming ...
The best part about this company is their customer service. There was a small glitch with my order, and when I emailed them about it, they had already shipped out a replacement with a prepaid mail label so I could return the other one to them. The email was very friendly, and signed by a real person. Now that is great customer service!
It's been about 10 days since my back surgery, and I'm feeling better every day. It's about time to start walking.
I didn't realize how weak i was until I went to my surgeon's office to have the staples out. My legs were like jelly by the time I reached the end of the parking lot. He still wants me to lie around a lot and keep pressure off my back, but at least I'm able to sit at my desk and fill orders :)
But it's amazing not having any more pain. I don't even have to take Tylenol anymore!
1. My back itches so much! The surgeon said I could keep the bandage off, but I have to keep one on my incision so I won't accidentally reach back there and start scratching.
2. Since I can't bend at the waist, I LOVE my grabber. I'm using an old one that my Mom used years ago. It is absolutely awesome. It has a screw thing sticking out of the top that catches underneath anything I need to open like the refrigerator vegetable drawer. It is very light, but it can pick up just about anything I'd say up to about 3 pounds.
3. I'm getting sick of the corset I have to wear. It would be very comfortable except for the metal stays in it. One of them has already worked one end through the end of the fabric, and they poke at me. I wonder why no one has come up with a back corset made out of Lycra like a swimsuit. It could be worn just as tight, but none of the metal or laces.
4. I want to heavy clean my house!!!! Just imagine the state of it. I was in the hospital for a week, and it was just my two teenage sons here. They picked up a little bit, but nowhere near enough.
5. I have gotten really good at unloading the dishwasher with my grabber lol Too bad that wasn't an Olympic event.
It's been a while since I wrote that post about my son getting in trouble with the law for graffiti. Things are so much different (and better) now!
He has been using his black book and markers and gave up spray paint, thank goodness! He is working on his art a lot more. He has been seeing an informal probation officer (who I wish understood and could help, but alas... she doesn't). Besides that, he applied at Job Corps and was accepted. He's been going for 2 weeks now, and he's doing great. He's getting up on his own every morning, and he's been able to stay all day every day except 2 when I was in the hospital. (FYI, he has high-functioning autism, so in most school settings he can't handle a full day). He just got his uniform yesterday and his bank account they helped him open, and he's really excited.
I'm sure most of you have heard bad things about Job Corps, but it is a really great program. Did you know that it is set up so that each student progresses at their own pace? That relieves the pressure of having to keep up and meet deadlines for kids who have trouble with that in most schools. It makes a huge difference. They also provide medical and dental services, driver's education, GED prep for kids who don't have their diploma, instruction in applying for a job and going to interviews, life skills, managing money, and experience in working as a team and meeting the requirements as if they were going to a job every day. They have really impressed me a lot.
So right now it is good to be a parent :)
